'Feels like there is more…' Aryna Sabalenka reveals why she prefers to watch men’s tennis over women’s tennis
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

WTA No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka has an interesting revelation about the kind of tennis matches she likes to watch. Ahead of her run at the Madrid Open, Belarusian revealed this interesting bit.

Sabalenka is the defending champion at the Mutua Madrid Open and is gearing up for another title at the tournament. Entering the Madrid tournament as the No.2 seed, the 25-year-old will lead the second half of the draw. She has received a first-round bye and will directly play at the Round Of 64.

The reigning Australian Open winner will face either Magda Linette or Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the second round. Ahead of her match, Sabalenka took to the press to give a few updates about her life. While speaking about the Big Three of the WTA, she mentioned that she prefers to watch men’s tennis over women’s.

I don't watch their matches… I feel like I've played against them enough and that, if I face one of them again, my coach is going to show me images of their matches to analyze and prepare me. I'm not someone who watches too much tennis, I prefer to watch men's tennis rather than women's tennis, I feel like there is more strategy and it's more interesting to watch (laughs). said Aryna Sabalenka via puntodebreak

Even though Sabalenka smartly evaded answering the main question, she went on to say that she loves being part of the WTA group and knows the players well enough to not watch videos of them. Only certain play images suffice for Sabalenka. She is currently happy with her level of tennis and is confident to take on any player on tour.

Aryna Sabalenka is ready to give it her all as she inches closer to achieving a huge achievement

Belarusian pro-Aryna Sabalenka has an exceptional record in the Mutua Madrid Open and is enough route to break another one as the tournament is set to commence.

As a defending champion, she is delighted to be back amongst the Spanish crowd. With great memories of winning here, Sabalenka looks to keep the wins flowing this time as well.

I'm going to make sure fight for every point and, if I have opportunities, take advantage of them. That is my mentality heading into this season's clay court tour. Aryna Sabalenka in her first interview with the Madrid Open press

If the 25-year-old managed to make it all the way through, she would become only the second woman to win three Madrid Open titles. In addition, she also revealed that she is entering the tournament with a never-give-up mentality and hopes to fight till the end.

Sabalenka has been through a lot over the last month. Not only is she struggling to find many deep runs but also lost her ex-boyfriend. Her latest run at the Stuttgart Open was shorter than she, and her fans, expected, as she lost in the quarter-final. Madrid Open is the real test for the Belarusian ace, who would have all eyes on her.
