One of the areas that AC Milan are looking to address in the summer mercato is the balance of the midfield, and the transfer team are working on several names.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, the mission for the summer is as follows: to sign central defender, a defensive midfielder and at least one striker (two in the case that Luka Jovic leaves).

This season, Milan have almost agreed to tactically expose themselves to their opponents in the name of playing a more attacking side, a calculated risk but one that should not resist next season because the management is already evaluating different profiles in midfield.

The idea is to sign a player with more defensive characteristics than Tijjani Reijnders, Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ismael Bennacer, to act as a shield in front of the defence in transition.

Youssouf Fofana of Monaco and the French national team is certainly among the profiles appreciated by Geoffrey Moncada and he will probably be the player they will try for first early in the summer.

In recent days, Milan have been offered two midfielders who will leave the Premier League for different reasons. The first is Sofyan Amrabat, on loan at Manchester United but returning to Fiorentina, and the second is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of Tottenham.

At the moment, however, the Rossoneri management do not seem attracted to these two profiles because of their age and economic factors too. Instead, Moncada has watched Basel on several occasions this season and he is a big fan of Renato Veiga.
