Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram has set the bar high, as he reveals his desire to win every possible trophy during his time at the club.

The Frenchman signed for the Nerazzurri in the summer on a free transfer and swiftly established himself as a pillar upfront.

The 26-year-old formed a deadly partnership with club captain Lautaro Martinez but also shares a solid bond with the rest of the squad.

Thuram declared his great ambitions while reiterating the group’s solidity and desire to play with one another.

“We really love playing together. We are a very close group. I arrived in July, but it feels like I’ve been here for many years,” said the striker in his interview with Il Corriere della Sera via FcInterNews.

“Since I was little, everyone told me that one day I would be a number 9. But I was not fond of it very much. I wanted to be on the wing, dribbling and running with the ball.

“Last year at the beginning of the season, my father and I had an argument on this matter. In the end, I chose to play as a centre-forward.

“Karim Benzema? I like him a lot. He’s an inspiration for sure. And one day I’d like to get to his level. I can only try.”

Marcus Thuram Wants To Win It All At Inter Milan

Thuram feels that he can still improve several aspects in his game, including dribbling and finishing.

“I have learned a lot and I hope to learn even more. I can improve everywhere, in dribbling, running, defense, in finishing.

“I often remain after training to do extra work, on the pitch and through video analyzing. I have improved a lot in positioning without the ball because here in Italy they work a lot on the tactical aspect.”

The World Cup finalist also reveals how he almost signed for Inter earlier. However, an injury postponed the move.

“I had already spoken to Piero [Ausilio] two years ago, then the injury stopped me. All that mattered was what he and the coach thought about me.

“I work hard, I also listen to my teammates and I’m happy with my performances.”

Thuram downplays comparisons with Romelu Lukaku who failed to impress in the clashes between Inter and Roma this season.

“My goals against Roma? It’s just a coincidence. And I don’t think the assist against Juve in the first fixture was any less significant. For me, assists are as valuable as goals.”

The France international is hoping to do well in the Champions League and is aiming to lift every possible trophy at Inter.

“Let’s try to be ready for every match. It will be tough against Atletico Madrid.

“But I’m hungry to win. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here at Inter. I want to win every possible trophy.”

The striker had a message of support for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan who suffered racial abuse lately.

“That was an ugly incident, but it’s not new. Leaving the pitch was the right gesture, We hope that we can overcome this plague because these are things that have been going on for some time and nothing seems to change.”

Finally, the Nerazzurri star praised his younger brother Khephren Thuram who plays as a midfielder for Nice.

“He’s stronger than me. He can do well in Italy or England: Italian football isn’t weaker for sure.”
