Is Ramsdale Close to Leaving Arsenal?

Fabrizio Romano has clarified the current situation of the English goalkeeper and stated that he is not aware of any club negotiating the possibility of signing him in 2024. He admits that it will be difficult for a goalkeeper like Ramsdale to find a major club that can guarantee regular playing time right now.

The journalist also states that “at the moment” there is nothing concrete to the possibility of the former Sheffield United man leaving Arsenal anytime soon. He reaffirms that the idea within the club is for Ramsdale to continue to fight with summer signing David Raya for the position until the end of the season.

They are hopeful that the Englishman will accept this situation and the team plans to make a final decision on their first choice in next summer’s transfer window.

What Has Ramsdale Said About Arsenal Situation?

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has voiced his unhappiness at seeing his role as the regular goalkeeper being taken by Raya this season. He told the Guardian recently about how he is “suffering and hurting” from not playing regularly, but that he is ready to step up and push his colleague to the limit in training.

Ramsdale has made six appearances for the Gunners this term, including four in the Premier League. He has only been able to keep two clean sheets in those games and has been forced to sit on the bench for the last few weeks. The 25-year-old, who was hailed as “exceptional” by Mikel Arteta earlier this year, will need to outwork Raya in training and outperform him to regain his regular spot in the squad.
