WWE Superstars Sport Penguins Jerseys in Title Match
USA TODAY Sports

Hockey season is still over a month away, but it looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins might have a couple of new enforcers to look in to for the upcoming season.

WWE’s premiere event Payback took place at PPG Paints Arena, and during a match for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship, the team of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn popped on a pair of Penguins jerseys to please the local crowd.

Owens in a No. 66 Mario Lemieux and Zayn in Sidney Crosby’s No. 87.

In honor of the event taking place in Pittsburgh, the match was labeled a “Steel City Street Fight” meaning there were no rules and any weapons are legal.

Fighting against Finn Balor and Damian Priest, Owens and Zayn were at one point tossed over the boards and were down for a moment.

While Balor and Priest strategized, Owens (face bloodied) and Zayn re-appeared with the jerseys, hockey sticks, and gloves.

The team of Owens and Zayn were both born in Canada making the use of the equipment fit even better.

While Zayn didn’t last long in his Penguins’ sweater, Owens kept the Lemieux jersey on for the remainder of the match and had arguably the spot on the night.

Owens put an interfering Dom Mysterio on a table before scaling to the top of the Zamboni tunnel and performing a swanton bomb on Mysterio.

The match was over 20 minutes long and full of entertaining spots and plenty of Pittsburgh references.

Depsite Owens and Zayn making more highlights, they lost the match and dropped the belts to Balor and Priest.
