Ryan Johansen leads four-player waiver wire on March 6 as NHL Trade Deadline looms
Steve Roberts-USA TODAY Sports

Four players have been placed on waivers on Wednesday with just two days to go until the March 8 NHL Trade Deadline.

The most notable is forward Ryan Johansen, who was acquired by the Philadelphia Flyers just minutes before the waiver deadline in a deal that sent defenseman Sean Walker to the Colorado Avalanche. Johansen has 13 goals and 23 points in 63 games, putting him on pace for just 30 points in a full 82-game slate. Johansen has scored at least 60 points five times in a season over his career, highlighted by a 71-point season with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2014-15. The 31-year-old forward has another year left on his $4 million deal.

The other three players include Los Angeles Kings’ Jacob Moverare and Jaret Anderson-Dolan, as well as Florida Panthers forward Will Lockwood.

Moverare, 25, was drafted 112th overall by the Kings in 2016. The Swedish born defender has played 10 games with the Kings this season, but has failed to register a point. He has 31 games of NHL experience over three years, registering two assists and 28 penalty minutes. Moverare also has 10 goals and 69 points in 152 AHL games with the Ontario Reign.

Anderson-Dolan has also spent his entire NHL career with the Kings since getting drafted 41st overall in 2017. Anderson-Dolan has four points in 30 NHL games this season, his sixth season in the NHL. He also has two goals in three games with the Reign, and has a career total of 79 points in 115 AHL games. JAD is set to become an RFA with arbitration rights after the end of his deal worth $775,000 this season.

Lockwood, 25, has one more year on his deal worth $775,000. He has one assist in 26 games with the Panthers this year to go along with seven points in 14 AHL games with the Charlotte Checkers. Lockwood was drafted 64th by the Vancouver Canucks in 2016 and spent the first three years of his pro career there before getting traded to the New York Rangers ahead of the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline.

Of note, every player placed on waivers on Tuesday – including Edmonton’s Sam Gagner and Carolina’s Maxime Comtois – cleared.
