Here's a list of notable events on February 3 in Chicago Blackhawks history.

2007: Blackhawks Trade for Kris Versteeg

On February 3, 2007, the Blackhawks acquired Kris Versteeg and a conditional draft pick from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Brandon Bochenski.

In the first of two trades in which Chicago acquired Versteeg, the Blackhawks fleeced the Bruins. Versteeg's first stint with the Blackhawks was a resounding success as he scored 101 points across parts of three seasons and helped Chicago win the 2010 Stanley Cup.

On the flip side, Bochenski logged 28 points across parts of two seasons with the Bruins before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks.

2014: Blackhawks Defeat Kings in Heavyweight Bout

On February 3, 2014, the Blackhawks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-3 in a battle of two elite Western Conference teams.

Patrick Kane led the way for the Blackhawks with three points, including two goals and one assist. Nick Leddy and Patrick Sharp scored two points apiece to help Chicago secure a big-time road victory.

This matchup preceded one of the hardest-fought Western Conference Finals in recent memory. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, the Kings got the upper hand in the playoffs and proceeded to win the 2014 Stanley Cup.

Notable Blackhawks Birthdays

Keith Carney , a 16-year NHL defenseman, was born on February 3, 1970. Across parts of five seasons with the Blackhawks, Carney scored 61 points (14 goals, 47 assists) in 271 regular-season games. He added seven points (one goal, six assists) in 26 playoff games with Chicago.
