Texans promising WR expected to return for OTAs

The Houston Texans have already received an offensive boost before the start of the next season.

Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC-TV in Houston, wide receiver Tank Dell expects to return for OTAs in May. Before he suffered a season-ending fibula fracture in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos, the third-round pick out of Houston flashed promise in his rookie season. In 11 games, he logged 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven TDs.

This bodes well for the Texans offense, which is quickly becoming one of the best in the league. Quarterback C.J. Stroud won 2023 Offensive Rookie of the Year, and WR Nico Collins set career highs in receptions (80), receiving yards (1,297) and receiving TDs (eight) in 15 games.

Spotrac estimates Houston has $65.41M in cap room, the sixth-most in the NFL, meaning they can re-sign key contributors like tight end Dalton Schultz and spend in free agency.

The Texans' main offensive weakness was their ground attack. They finished 28th in the league in rushing yards (92.4). Signing a free-agent running back, such as Derrick Henry or Saquon Barkley, could improve the run game.

Regardless, Dell's return is a win for Houston, and the franchise is heading in the right direction. This past season, the Texans captured an AFC South title and won a playoff game for the first time since 2019.

Vegas thinks the franchise is becoming a legitimate contender. DraftKings gives them the 11th-best Super Bowl LIX odds (+2200). The Texans might be on the verge of something big if their young stars stay on an upward trajectory.
