The Houston Texans lead the Denver Broncos 13-3 at halftime of Sunday's game at NRG Stadium behind a rushing score from Dameon Pierce and two field goals from Matt Ammendola.
The Texans struck first in the game on a 38-yard kick from Ammendola, and they found the end zone early in the second quarter on a three-yard carry from Pierce. On that same scoring play, Houston rookie wideout Tank Dell suffered a lower-body injury and was carted off the field. No official word has come from the Texans on his injury status.
After another field goal from Ammendola, the Broncos found their first semblance of offensive momentum on the day late in the second quarter, driving into Texans territory, and were forced to settle for a field goal, their only points of the half.
The Texans were able to get the football back before the end of the second quarter, but they were unable to drive the field and put any more points on the board.
At the intermission, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has thrown for 182 yards, 122 of which have come from wideout Nico Collins on four receptions.
As a team, the Texans have 259 yards of total offense at the intermission. Houston's defense has held Russell Wilson and the Broncos to just 103 yards and 44 passing yards.
The Texans received the ball to start the game, so they will kick off to the Broncos to begin the second half.
