Saints Star Cam Jordan Weighs In On Buccaneers, Mike Evans Contract Situation

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are engulfed in contract negotiations as the franchise tries to keep star wide receiver Mike Evans in pewter and red. Evans has risen into one of the top players in team history during his decade-long tenure with the Buccaneers. With that being said, the 30-year-old reportedly plans to at least hear out other clubs as he'll enter free agency for the first time in his career.

The New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bitter rivals that have had plenty of heated battles over the years. While there's no love lost between the two franchises, Saints star defender Cameron Jordan believes that the Buccaneers "should get it done" when it comes to ironing out a new deal for Evans.

While playing a large role in the NFL Combine coverage on Thursday, Jordan weighed in with his thoughts on the All-Pro wide receiver and Tampa Bay.

"It can't be a decision with Mike Evans. I don't understand it," Jordan said on NFL Network. "You should get it done, production-wise you should get that done. Who doesn't want a 1,000-yard receiver?"

Jordan knows all about Evans after facing him in the regular season and postseason for the last ten years. The Buccaneers would be wise to consider his opinion as the new league year draws closer and closer. Evans has been the face of the franchise throughout his time with Tampa Bay and the team can't afford to lose him after finally creating some momentum under head coach Todd Bowles.

Evans is a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro selection along with being a member of the Buccaneers team that won Super Bowl LV. He holds the record of ten straight seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards to begin his professional career. Evans has caught 762 passes for 11,680 yards with 94 touchdowns since being drafted in 2014.
