Saints DE Cameron Jordan fires back at NFL for fake injury fine

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan fired back at the NFL on Monday, two days after receiving a $50,000 fine for faking an injury.

Saints DE Cameron Jordan on his integrity being questioned by the fines accusing him of faking an injury: “If this was a civil lawsuit, I’d countersue for triple the amount.”

After being served the fine on Saturday, Jordan called the punishment "ridiculous" and he was "irked" when he found out the amount of money coming out of his pockets.

Defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen was fined $50,000 and head coach Dennis Allen was fined $100,000, while the NFL fined the team $350,000 as well.

During the Saints' Week 13 "Monday Night Football" game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bucs were facing a fourth-and-10 from their own 25-yard line, when Jordan was apparently told to fake an injury. Tampa Bay seemed to be considering going for it on fourth down but ultimately chose to punt.

New Orleans ended up winning the game, 17-16, to improve to 4-9. Despite the rough season, the Saints are still in the race for the NFC South crown, as the Buccaneers lead the division at 6-7, while the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers are tied at 5-8.

The Saints host the Falcons at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday in Week 15, where they'll face rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder in his NFL debut.
