Raiders OL Wraps Up Another Strong Season
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders now turn their attention to the offseason after finishing the 2023-24 regular season with an 8-9 record.

While they missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season, there were several things the team can be encouraged about as they reflect on the year. The Raiders gave themselves a chance to make the postseason in the second half of the year under Interim Coach Antonio Pierce.

One element of the Raiders that was consistent for another season was their offensive line play. The Raiders’ big men up front were named the 8th-best offensive line unit in the NFL ahead of Week 18 by Pro Football Focus and will likely be ranked in the top-10 in the final rankings, just as they were at the end of 2022.

Despite injuries to starters, the Raiders' offensive line was a force all season. The Raiders were led by left tackle Kolton Miller, who earned the highest PFF grade on the Raiders' offense in 2023 at 80.2. Miller played 705 snaps and allowed just 16 total pressures.

While he dealt with a shoulder injury and missed four games, Miller was once again the Raiders’ best offensive lineman when he was available on the field. The Raiders are fortunate to have their franchise left tackle.

When Miller was out, however, Thayer Munford filled in nicely for him at left tackle. The second-year man out of Ohio State did not allow a sack in Weeks 14-17.

Second-year guard Dylan Parham played the most snaps on the entire team in 2023 with 1,042, surpassing the 1,000-snap mark in both seasons of his career. Parham was a consistent presence on the interior, mainly playing guard but also spending time at center.

The Raiders signed guard Greg Van Roten in May, and he gave the Raiders excellent play, logging over 1,000 snaps and allowing just 21 total pressures. He will be a free agent, so Las Vegas will have to decide whether or not they want to bring him back.

Football games are won and lost in the trenches, and the Raiders were able to have offensive success because of the play of their offensive line. It has now been two consecutive seasons that their front five has been a strength of their offense, and they will look to make it a third in 2024.
