Pat McAfee was thrilled with Anthony Richardson, Colts in Week 1

Many NFL fans believed the Indianapolis Colts were slated for a full-blown rebuild this season. It wasn't a tough case to make, as they drafted a quarterback with legitimate upside but who many viewed to be a bit raw. Despite those concerns, Anthony Richardson was named the Week 1 starter and quickly gave fans a glimpse of that aforementioned upside.

Although the Colts fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-21, the game was close much of the way before Trevor Lawrence and company pulled away in the fourth quarter. Richardson threw for 223 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing for 40 yards and another score. The most impressive part of Indy showing up and looking decent is that it did so without star running back Jonathan Taylor, who's out until at least Week 5 on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

Among the fans who walked away impressed with what they saw from Richardson and the Colts was the team's former punter and current TV star Pat McAfee, who couldn't contain his excitement throughout the first Sunday of the NFL season.

The Colts will head on the road in Week 2 to face the Houston Texans, who fell in their opener to the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 25-9. Fans will get to see two of the top picks from the 2023 NFL Draft square off when Richardson and former Ohio State star C.J. Stroud faceoff, adding even more intrigue to this matchup.
