Offseason transactions leave Titans with crowded position group and a good problem
Mark Zaleski / The Tennessean-USA TODAY NETWORK

Coming into the 2024 offseason, finding answers on the offensive line was of the utmost priority for the Tennessee Titans front office.

Tennessee allowed 64 sacks in 2023, that was tied for the most by any AFC team. In the running game, the Titans were bottom five in yards before contact per attempt.

The Titans brass has been aggressive in solving that problem. So much so, that with the addition of Leroy Watson via trade, the offensive line room is getting too crowded before the 2024 NFL Draft has even happened.

The Titans kept 10 players on the offensive line (four tackles and six interior) on their initial 53-man roster for the 2023 season. On Tennessee’s current depth chart, there are nine offensive linemen who played at least 80 percent of the offensive snaps in at least one game last season.

There are some presumed starters in Peter Skoronski and Lloyd Cushenberry. There are some players competing for starting jobs in Daniel Brunskill, Saahdiq Charles, and Dillon Radunz. Then there are players just competing for spots on the bench. I’d put Jaelyn Duncan, Andrew Rupcich, Nicholas Petit-Frere, John Ojukwu, and Leroy Watson in this tier.

That’s ten players who have a legitimate chance to make the 53-man roster. It’s safe to assume that the Titans are still going to add at least two linemen during the draft that can be instant contributors. It’s a good problem to have. It just means tough cuts might be coming at the end of August.

The tackle competition should be a really fun one in training camp. Petit-Frere, Watson, Duncan, and Ojukwu could end up competing with two rookies being added in the mix. The Titans only kept four tackles last season (Andre Dillard, Chris Hubbard, Justin Murray, and Jaelyn Duncan).
