New Orleans Saints fan favorite Cameron Jordan helped bring Chase Young to their defense

The New Orleans Saints made a free agency splash on Monday. They reportedly agreed to terms on a deal with pass rusher Chase Young. It's a one-year deal worth $13 million fully guaranteed.

Apparently, there was a deeper reason that Young chose to join the Saints. Fans may not have been aware of it before today, either.

According to Ian Rapoport, Young wanted to play with Saints pass rusher Cameron Jordan.

Cam is a beloved player around the league and the Saints fan base. He's clearly made an impact on Young during his time in the NFL.

Young slots in to compete for a starting role off the edge for New Orleans. Carl Granderson was extended last year and was the top producer for the team's pass rush in 2023. Meanwhile, Jordan struggled with injuries and had the worst season of his veteran career.

According to Jordan Schultz, the Saints' recruiting began on Sunday night at a dinner with Young.

Young is a former second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. His upside has not been reached, and he may never live up to the sort of hype that surrounded him before the draft.

That being said, the addition is a big swing by the Saints, and it could pay off in a major way for them.
