Matthew Stafford having fun being part of Stetson Bennett's early NFL journey

Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett. It's a story of two Georgia quarterbacks who have found themselves competing on a football team in Los Angeles.

Of course, there really is no competition for the Los Angeles Rams as long as Stafford is healthy. The Super Bowl LVI winner is clearly "the guy" in Los Angeles as long as his body allows him to be. The Rams took Bennett in the fourth round of this past NFL Draft for a reason, though. He won back-to-back national championships at Georgia and has an "it" factor.

No, he didn't have the natural talent of Stafford, a former N. 1 overall pick coming out of UGA, but much like with Stafford – you know it when you see it.

In terms of what Stafford sees in his young protégé at the moment, it seems to be a little bit of a mixed bag. With that said, according to Tim Kelly, the 14-year pro is enjoying being a part of the rookie's process.

"I really only briefly met him once before we drafted him, but he's like all the other young guys on this team, man, just trying to figure it out and trying to figure out what it's like to be an NFL player, where to be, what to do and continue to try to kind of carve his way, which is fun to see and fun to be a part of," Stafford said of Bennett.

Stafford sat out LA's first preseason game, which allowed Bennett a chance for extended NFL action. The Rams lost, 34-17, to the Los Angeles Chargers, but the rookie did complete 17-of-29 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown.

"He's a really talented kid, runs around, makes plays, throws it great, but he's like every other rookie," Stafford explained. "They're just doing the best they can to try and figure stuff out as quickly as possible.”

Whether or not Bennett makes it as an NFL quarterback, the tie between the two players will be undeniable.

Stafford threw for 7,731 yards and 51 touchdowns in three seasons at Georgia before being drafted No. 1 overall by the Detroit Lions in 2009. Bennett threw for 8,429 yards and 66 touchdowns in three seasons for UGA.

He's got Stafford beat in national championships, 2-0, but the NFL vet does have a Lombardi Trophy he can hang over the young quarterback's head for the time being.
