Kyle Shanahan provides updates on Danny Gray, other potential 49ers returnees
Morgan Tencza-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers have designated defensive end Robert Beal (hamstring) and cornerbacks Darrell Luter (knee) and Samuel Womack (knee) as "questionable" for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Notably, none of these players are currently on the 53-man roster.

The 49ers opened their practice windows on November 6, and a decision regarding their status must be made soon. Several factors, including roster space, will contribute to that decision. On the positive side, their health appears to be progressing in the right direction.

"They're coming along well," Shanahan told reporters after Friday's practice. "They've had two good weeks. It's nice to have them at practice. It's been nice having them this week. They've got another week left. Unfortunately, that week isn't the best week, being a Thursday night game. So yesterday was their main full-speed practice, but still got another week with them."

Shanahan continued, "They're all showing that they're healthy enough to play and stuff. It's getting back into it and having to figure out the roster with those guys."

Danny Gray is the only other player currently on the injured reserve list who is eligible to return. He has been recovering from a shoulder injury. Shanahan also provided an update on the second-year wide receiver.

"Danny's good to go," the coach said. "He's getting right there. He's in that same situation. We'll see how it goes with these numbers, but I think he's right around now able to come back and help us, so we'll see when we need him with the numbers."
