Giants' Tommy DeVito files for two very fitting trademarks
New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito. Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Tommy DeVito became a household name almost instantly after he took over as the starting quarterback of the New York Giants, and the rookie is doing everything he can to capitalize on the popularity.

DeVito recently filed for two new trademarks, according to trademark attorney Josh Gerben. One is for the phrase “Tommy Cutlets” and the other is for “Passing Paisano.” DeVito plans to use the trademarks for branding on everything from decals and clothing to pasta and pizza.

DeVito is very proud of his Italian-American heritage, as are those in his inner circle. Even DeVito’s agent went viral last week for looking like a character straight out of “The Godfather.”

While he has only started a handful of games for the Giants and probably won’t be their starter next season, DeVito is already extremely popular. We saw one opposing player mock the former Illinois star with a custom sack celebration on Sunday (video here).

By filing for trademarks, DeVito is essentially trying to strike while the iron is hot. You can’t blame him for that.
