New York Giants offensive tackle Evan Neal's second season is officially over, as the team has put their 2022 first-round draft pick on injured reserve, thus officially ending his season with three games remaining.

Neal has appeared in just seven games with seven starts this year, all at right tackle. He's missed chunks of the season due to two different ankle injuries, this last one being one he could not overcome.

Last week, Neal was able to get back on the practice field on a limited basis but ended up with a doubtful designation for the game against the Saints and was declared inactive. This week, Neal never made it back to the practice field, his second NFL season officially coming to an end despite there being a sliver of hope he'd be able to return.

According to Pro Football Focus, Neal allowed 30 pressures in 309 pass-blocking snaps this season, the 29th among tackles. That comes on top of his allowing 52 last year, tied for third-most among tackles league-wide.

The Giants filled the open roster spot by activating offensive tackle Matt Peart from injured reserve. Peart, who had injured his shoulder in Week 5 against the Dolphins, had his 21-day window opened this week and will now serve as a backup tackle behind staters Andrew Thomas and Tyre Phillips.

In other roster moves, the Giants used standard practice squad elevations on kicker Mason Crosby and outside linebacker Tomon Fox.

Crosby was signed to the practice squad earlier in the week. Fox, who has been on the practice squad all season long, receives his first standard elevation of the 2023 season.

Crosby, once he attempts a kick for the Giants, will be the fourth such player to attempt a kick for the Giants this season, the first time in franchise history they have had four different payers attempt a kick (Graham Gano, Randy Bullock, and punter Jamie Gillan are the other three who attempted kicks for the Giants this year).

The Giants play the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. Kickoff is set for 4:30 PM ET.
