Former Raiders star jokingly says he'd like to punch Maxx Crosby

A former Las Vegas Raiders star player set to play the team in the upcoming season recently answered a question about the matchup. The Raiders have seen some major turnover on their roster since the start of the Josh McDaniels era in Las Vegas.

McDaniels is no longer coaching the team, but the Raiders have several high-profile ex-players with other teams. Darren Waller plays for the New York Giants. Josh Jacobs signed with the Green Bay Packers in free agency this March. Jimmy Garoppolo is now with the Los Angeles Rams.

The Las Vegas Raiders made a mistake with Derek Carr

Arguably, the biggest mistake on the roster due to the Raiders putting their trust in McDaniels was the decision to move on from Derek Carr. Carr signed with the New Orleans Saints last season following his release from the Raiders. The Saints are set to play the Raiders in the upcoming season.

Carr joked about punching Maxx Crosby

A fan asked Carr if he was looking forward to playing the Raiders in the 2024 season. According to a video posted by Vic Tafur, Carr said he was.

“I am looking forward to it. I cannot wait,” Carr said.

He then added a joke.

“Hopefully, I’m going to try to start a fight with him, punch him, and then have the ref only see him throw his punch back. That’s my goal,” Carr said in jest.

Carr could get knocked around by Crosby, though

Carr won’t be punching his 256-pound former teammates this fall. However, if his offensive line struggles, Carr could get knocked around by Crosby. The Saints and Raiders matchup should have extra intrigue this season since Carr will face his former team.
