The Dallas Cowboys are set to have quarterback Dak Prescott back in the lineup this fall following the compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle he suffered last October.
With Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci sitting directly behind Prescott on the depth chart, head coach Mike McCarthy understandably desires a more proven commodity as QB2.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports free agent Brett Hundley has completed a successful workout with the Cowboys and could soon sign a deal with the club.
Free agent quarterback Brett Hundley completed his workout with the Cowboys today and I'm told the workout went very well. He's still in Dallas and remains an option for the team's QB room.

Hundley entered the NFL when the Green Bay Packers selected him with a fifth-round draft pick in 2015 while McCarthy was Green Bay's coach. The signal-caller has never cemented himself as anything other than a backup and has only nine passing touchdowns along with 13 interceptions during his pro career, but the 27-year-old is no stranger to McCarthy or his ways.
Besides, neither Gilbert nor DiNucci impressed during their appearances last season.
