Chiefs Place Prince Tega Wanogho on IR, Make Multiple Other Roster Moves

The Kansas City Chiefs escaped their Week 3 win over the Chicago Bears mostly healthy, although one player did suffer a notable injury. Backup offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho went down with a quad ailment that saw him get ruled out of the game soon thereafter, and a bit more clarity is now available regarding his status.

Initially pointed out by Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports, Kansas City is placing Wanogho on injured reserve. Additionally, the team is signing defensive tackle Matt Dickerson and wide receiver Montrell Washington to the 53-man roster.

With Wanogho now on IR, he'll be set to miss at least the Chiefs' next four games (at the New York Jets, at the Minnesota Vikings, at home against the Denver Broncos and at home versus the Los Angeles Chargers). At the time of the team's decision to place him on IR, it's unclear whether this will end his 2023 season. More clarity could be coming in the near future.

Dickerson, 27, logged 41 defensive snaps in Kansas City's season opener against the Detroit Lions before seeing the field 19 times in Week 2. The veteran defensive lineman didn't play in the club's Week 3 blowout against the Bears, although being on the 53-man roster opens the door for him to receive playing time in the coming weeks.

Washington. who stepped up as the Chiefs' primary return man once wideout Richie James went on IR, brought back three punts for 33 yards on Sunday. The former fifth-round pick was praised by head coach Andy Reid for the job he did in his team debut, with Reid saying he'd expect Washington to continue filling that role moving forward.
