Another NFL team was interested in drafting former Tennessee RB Jaylen Wright before the Dolphins selected him in the fourth round

Former Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright landed in a perfect situation in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins selected Wright in the fourth round of the draft.

Miami traded up with the Philadelphia Eagles to select Wright, sending a 2025 third round pick to Philly for the 2024 fourth round pick that was used to select the former Tennessee standout.

Wright should be a perfect fit in Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel's outside zone blocking scheme. McDaniel is known as a run-game savant who values speed, patience, vision, and pass protection. Wright is elite in all four categories.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there's another team that liked Wright in the fourth round.

Fowler noted on Tuesday that the Dallas Cowboys "really liked" Wright, but they didn't have a fourth round selection.

From ESPN: The Cowboys also really liked Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright, who went No. 120 overall (the 20th pick of the fourth round) to Miami. If the Cowboys had a fourth-rounder and Wright were still available, chances are they would have jumped on him.

Wright almost certainly landed in a better situation -- specifically for his skillset -- with the Dolphins. While I'm sure Wright would've been happy with any NFL opportunity that he received, he couldn't have found a better opportunity than the one he'll be getting in Miami.
