The NBA is expected to look into the Philadelphia 76ers’ decision to sit All-Star center Joel Embiid for a nationally televised game vs. the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Embiid was with what the team called knee soreness. However, there seem to be some questions as to the timing of the Sixers’ report of the injury to the league office.
“(Embiid) didn’t enter the injury report, I’m told, until 15 minutes before tipoff, and for sure that’s something that the league will have to review,” Charania said during his regular spot on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back.
The Sixers dropped a 111-10 decision to the defending champions on the road.
Philadelphia (29-15) remains in third place in the Eastern Conference, but is just one game ahead of the New York Knicks and 1.5 ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers entering Monday’s games.
