Petsukumvit Boi Bangna Needs to Pick Up Momentum at ONE Friday Night Fights 61

Petsukumvit Boi Bangna is always a fighter that ONE Championship can count on to deliver exciting performances. But when he competes in ONE Friday Night Fights 61, Petsukumvit may be fighting for his career in the promotion. Petsukumvit has lost three consecutive fights, including two by decision.

Petsukumvit is a former two-time Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion. When Petsukumvit came to ONE Championship, he found success almost immediately. He won his first three fights and looked like a championship contender.

However, Petsukumvit’s recent losing streak has him searching for answers. Fortunately for him, his next opponent may be having some issues with confidence himself.

Duangsompong Jitmuangnon will be Petsukumvit’s opponent for this flyweight Muay Thai clash and finds himself in a similar sport. Online boxing news shows that Duangsompong has split his first eight fights in the promotion.

It’s hard to know why Petsukumvit’s style hasn’t translated to ONE. Even during his three-fight winning streak, he was only able to finish one fight by knockout. Things haven’t gone well for Petsukumvit when he has gone to the judges. Petsukumvit has gone 2-2 when fights go the distance.

Abdallah Ondash Hopes to Protect Zero

Abdallah Ondash has found life in the ONE Championship to be suited to his fighting style. Ondash has won his first three fights in the organization. When it comes to what type of fight Ondash needs to have, he has showcased several styles.

Ondash has eked out a split decision while also picking up two knockouts during his career so far. Suesat Manop Gym will be Ondash’s opponent for a strawweight Muay Thai fight. Suesat has yet to win and will have to contend with the dangerous Ondash.

Chalawan Ngorbangkapi Has Things to Prove

Chalawan Ngorbangkapi would probably like to fight Kaoklai Chor Hapayak more frequently. During the two meetings between the two men in ONE, Chalawan collected two knockouts. Outside of his clashes with Kaoklai, there hasn’t been a lot to be excited about with Chalawan.

It’s not that Chalawan doesn’t have the credentials. He is a Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion and will look to knock out another opponent when he takes on Petpattaya Silkmuaythai at 122 pounds. Chalawan is only 2-2 in ONE Championship fights.

Petpattaya made an impressive debut in the organization back in February. He knocked out Thai fighter Got Taipetburi in the second round. The 31-year-old will look to continue that momentum against Chalawan.

Petsaenchai M U Den KhonmaiBaowee Searches for More KOs

Petsaenchai M U Den KhonmaiBaowee has made waves since coming to ONE. The 22-year-old Thai fighter has produced two knockouts during two fights in the organization. However, Petsaenchai hasn’t been too active in the organization. After debuting in October 2023 with a knockout win, he didn’t fight again until February.

In Petsaenchai’s return fight, he knocked out Petdam Petkiatpet in the first round. Petsaenchai will be attempting to protect his record against debutant Ruayjing Sor Wisetkit.

Petsaenchai’s first fight was an exciting one. He was able to score a stoppage with 29 seconds left in the first round. Continuing to build on that record by stopping a newcomer would set in motion some momentum for the Thai fighter.

Chloe Cook Set for Debut

It’s hard to know when the best time to shed a fighter’s amateur status is. Turning professional is a good opportunity to make money, but Chloe Cook will also be in for a totally new level of competition when she makes her atomweight debut against Hanna Palmquist.

Cook, a British fighter, had a decorated amateur career. She won all five of her fights at the amateur level, including three by knockout and one by submission. Palmquist, a Swedish fighter, also spent plenty of time fighting in the amateur ranks.

Palmquist put up a 7-3 record on the amateur circuit. While she did finish a few fights early in her career, Palmquist has seen her previous five fights all end via decision. Both Palmquist and Cook are making their ONE debuts and should get a better idea of how they stack up in the professional ranks.

Making the jump from amateur to professional can be a scary one as everyone at the professional level takes things more seriously. If Cook doesn’t win this fight, it will be a good test of her character to see how she handles her first career loss. It’s impossible to know until it happens.

Eziyeu Wants to Continue Building MMA Resume

One thing that is nice about MMA compared to boxing is that one fight doesn’t necessarily take much steam out of your career opportunities. Before Ilyas Eziyeu made it to ONE Championship, he took a loss in a regional Russian fight. But Eziyeu made quick improvements.

He bounced back with a knockout win on the regional scene before debuting in ONE Championship with a decision win over Asset Anarbaev. Eziyeu will get a step up in competition for his next fight. He will have to face off against Japan’s Joji Goto in a bantamweight fight.

Goto is making his debut in ONE, but has a long history of competing in other organizations. He was 2-0 in RIZIN and has a 16-6-2 record in his career. Goto has won eight fights by knockout and picked up four wins via submission.

Goto is vulnerable to being submitted himself, having been forced to tap out three times. There is plenty of action on this weekend’s card. Here’s a look at a few fights that weren’t mentioned above:
