Three youngest MLB players share one obvious thing in common other than their age

With the Baltimore Orioles officially promoting middle infielder Jackson Holliday to the majors on Wednesday, the three youngest players in MLB now all have something very obvious in common, other than their age.

Milwaukee Brewers rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio is the baby of the bunch, as he only turned 20 years old on March 11.

The Venezuelan hasn't looked fazed by big league pitching in the opening weeks of his career, as he's gone 10-for-36 with three runs scored, one double, two home runs, seven RBI and a stolen base. Chourio's helped the Brewers get off to a 7-3 start.

Holliday turned 20 on Dec. 4 and surprisingly opened the 2024 campaign in Triple-A. The 2022 first overall pick made it impossible for the Orioles to wait any longer for a promotion, going 14-for-42 with 18 runs scored, five doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and a sensational 12:8 strikeout to walk ratio over his first 10 games with the Norfolk Tides.

San Diego Padres centerfielder Jackson Merrill is the oldest of the trio, as he'll turn 21 years old on April 19.

The 2021 first-round pick has started 12 of the Padres' first 14 games and made an appearance in all of them. Merrill is off to a 12-for-40 start in San Diego, has scored 10 runs and recorded two doubles, one home run, two RBI and one stolen base.

Holliday, Chourio and Merrill opened the season as the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 12 ranked MLB prospects, respectively, according to MLB Pipeline. Detroit Tigers starting pitching prospect Jackson Jobe started the campaign as the 25th-ranked player, but he's currently on the team's Double-A affiliate, the Erie SeaWolves.

If Jobe gets promoted this season and one more unexpected prospect named "Jackson" shoots up the rankings, America's pastime could be looking at the next Jackson 5.
