Raiders Draft Prospect: LB Trevin Wallace, Kentucky
Jordan Prather-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders are evaluating prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Raiders have added a few talented players through free agency but must consider long-term options. They can do that through the draft, where they have nine selections. Las Vegas has a great chance to add to its young core.

Now that Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco have begun their regime, exciting things are on the horizon for the Silver and Black. However, there is still work to do on the roster for this team to become a postseason team in 2024.

The Raiders can still add players to their defense, including linebackers. Kentucky’s Trevin Wallace could be a piece they consider in the late rounds of the draft.

Wallace is a highly athletic presence who was excellent for the Wildcats. He finished his collegiate career with 166 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, three interceptions, and 10 sacks. He participated at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

Wallace also participated in the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Ind., two weeks ago. He performed well, posting a 4.51 40-yard dash, which tied for the third-fastest time among all linebackers. He also had a 1.62 10-yard split.

Wallace stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 231 pounds. His size makes him an intriguing depth prospect late in the draft. He has impressive athleticism, which he showed off at the Combine.

If the Raiders select Wallace, they could use him as a fourth linebacker or a special teams producer. He is at his best on defense, though, in the run game. Wallace’s speed allows him to cover lots of ground and make plays on ball carriers, which could also be valuable on special teams.

Modern linebackers in today’s NFL have to be able to cover tight ends and receivers over the middle of the field. Wallace can do that well, which could make him an underrated draft prospect.

Wallace needs to improve his IQ and play recognition if he hopes to stay on the field at the next level. He struggles to identify where the play will go, which puts him out of position too often.

Wallace is projected to be a late-round draft selection. If the Raiders want to add depth to their linebacker grouping, Wallace could be a good fit.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
