Kevin Costner isn’t calling it a ‘saga’ for nothing. Apparently his upcoming western, titled Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1, is over three hours in length.
That’s according to Deadline, which writes “Surprises this summer: New Line’s Kevin Costner three-hour western Horizon: An American Saga.” The outlet also predicts big things for its box office, saying it “can be a $5M or a $100M movie.”
The movie’s director/co-writer/star Costner will be hoping for the latter. He’s rumored to have self-funded the passion project by selling his ten-acre Oceanfront Santa Barbara property.
Costner is currently in production on parts one and two, and is reportedly set to shoot parts three and four this summer in Southern Utah, depending on how the first one does.
Chapters 1 and 2 will release in theatres June 28, 2024 and August 16, 2024 respectively.
