The Colorado Avalanche haven't made epic moves today, but the franchise made several moves to upgrade its roster.
The big addition to date was forward P.A. Parenteau for four years and $16 million. He broke out the last two seasons for the Islanders, scoring 53 and 67 points.
The Avalanche nabbed depth forward John Mitchell, most recently a Ranger. He got $2.2 million for two years.
Colorado also wooed physical Senators defenseman Matt Carkner and announced that a deal was in place. But he opted to play for the Islanders instead with a three-year deal for $1.5 million per year, a heavy price to pay for toughness.
Then defenseman Greg Zanon landed in Colorado for two years and $4.5 million after playing in Minnesota and Boston last season.
